The colorful facade, warm interior, and honey lavender lattes are what make Bloom & Plume one of LA’s most stylish coffee bars. Co-owner Maurice Harris has ample skill as an artist and floral designer and obsesses over both in his Historic Filipinotown cafe. Food is available too, including gluten-free vegan doughnuts and a bacon biscuit sandwich. If headed to Community Goods during busy hours, settle into the line with a book or a podcast. The queue is consistent, as are the stellar coffee drinks like the einspänner latte with sweetened cream, cocoa powder, double espresso, and a pinch of salt. For those not near Hollywood, find additional locations in Exposition Park, Baldwin Hills, and Jefferson Park/West Adams. Co-founder Dennis Garsinii rides all over LA serving espressos and Americanos on a custom bike. They have outdoor sitting..everyone is courteous and the food is amazing. Food was great and staff was extremely friendly and accommodating.
This Asian and woman-owned cafe offers a seating area as enjoyable as the espresso drinks, like the cappuccino made with espresso and sweetened coconut cream. It is a cafe but also a community space that hosts special events. Staff serve incredible coffee beans sourced from around the globe and roast them at a site near the cafe. Those who grew up in LA will highly appreciate the LAUSD-esque coffee cake.
The newest coffee shop on this list, Dear Globe Coffee Roasters is located downtown in the Bromo Arts & Entertainment District. And, even though they are a small team that just opened their first shop on Mulberry Street, Dear Globe continues to pop up at lots of city events and farmers markets. Stop in and enjoy a pour over, they make one of the best in the city. And while their food program is still coming together, the housemade muffins in flavors like mango banana are early favorites. They sometimes have live music on Sundays, too, so expect good vibes all around.

With low lighting, dark wood furniture, plants in glass cloches, and relaxing music, The Bun Shop can only be described as chill. The original location in Mt. Vernon on Read Street has been featured on a handful of TV shows, but don’t go for that reason, go for a savory or sweet bun, empanadas, or a Vietnamese iced coffee. Feel free to hang a while and caffeinate while you read a book, do some work, or catch up with a friend—the big open space works well for any activity. One very nice thing is that they have an excellent loose tea selection, so everyone can find something to enjoy.

Culver City's modernist Cognoscenti Coffee started in 2009 and is staffed by friendly baristas who know everything about coffee. Cognoscenti doesn’t use fancy drink names and focuses on producing quality drip coffee, cappuccino, lattes, and cold brew in the Fashion District, Downtown LA, and Culver City. This cute café in the middle of a shopping street in Pigtown is the quintessential mom-and-pop-owned neighborhood spot.
This Oaxacan coffee bar is stationed right at the entry to the shipping container food hall and serves brioche french toast, breakfast sandwiches, and quiche as well. Pie Time has been making lattes flavored with housemade maple brown syrup and selling scratch-made sweet and savory pies at two major city farmers markets for a few years now, but their brick and mortar shop just opened in 2021. They describe their pies as “down home sweet and progressive savory” and some fan favorites include the peach blueberry and the Indian butter chicken—and each pairs perfectly with an espresso drink sipped in the shop or taken to go. It is worth the trek to Orange County’s Little Saigon for Trung Nguyên Legend Café. Vietnam’s legendary cafe opened in 2023 and serves phin- (coffee made with a Vietnamese filter) and espresso-based coffee drinks using Vietnamese-grown robusta and arabica beans from Buôn Ma Thuột.
Look out for their monthly chef’s dinner series where they invite guest chefs to cook a meal for the community. Tiny and charming in one of Baltimore’s coolest neighborhoods of Old Goucher, Sophomore Coffee is part of a collective of small businesses including a wine shop and a sake and natural wine bar with a zen-like courtyard. Even though it’s only been open for a couple of years, Sophomore feels like it’s been around forever.
